Is Your Hotel Website Outdated? Should You Redesign It or Build a New One?

Is your hotel website outdated, partly broken, or no longer easy to use? Learn when redesigning the existing site makes sense and when rebuilding may be the better option.

Many hotels and resorts already have a website that was built years ago.

Some still work, but the design may feel dated, the mobile experience may be difficult to use, or the information no longer reflects the property today. Others may have more serious problems, such as broken pages, links that no longer work, or a website that is barely accessible.

An older website does not automatically mean you need to rebuild everything.

The more useful question is:

Can the current website still be improved and continue supporting the way guests discover and book your property?

If the existing website still has a good foundation, improving it may be enough

If the main structure still works and most of the problems are related to design or user experience, a redesign may be more practical than starting again.

The website may simply need a more modern visual direction, a better mobile layout, clearer room information or a simpler path towards booking.

Even if some pages no longer open or a few links are broken, that does not always mean the whole website needs to be replaced. If the underlying system can still be maintained, fixing the problem areas and improving the experience may be enough.

This can often be more efficient than rebuilding the entire site from the beginning.

Sometimes rebuilding is easier than repairing the old website

There are also cases where the existing website is no longer practical to keep.

A situation we see in real accommodation businesses is when the domain name is still active, but the website itself no longer works. Guests may be able to reach the domain, but pages and links fail to load or the original website is effectively gone.

If nobody can maintain the old system, the structure is extremely outdated, or adding new functionality becomes difficult, continuing to repair the website may no longer be worthwhile.

This is especially true when the property wants to improve several things at the same time, such as the design, room presentation and booking journey.

If you also want to introduce direct booking, a new website can be designed around a much clearer flow:

Discover the property → View rooms → Choose dates → Check availability → Book

Instead of forcing a new booking experience into a website that was never built for it.

If you rebuild, you do not have to throw everything away

Building a new website does not mean that everything from the existing one should disappear.

Before replacing it, it is worth checking whether the old site has useful room information, photos, articles or pages that are already receiving visitors from Google.

If certain URLs already have search visibility or regular traffic, they should also be considered when planning the new website.

The goal should not simply be to make the website look newer.

It should be to keep what is still valuable and remove the limitations of the old website.

Hotel website redesign and rebuild with PAAK IN

PAAK IN works with hotels, resorts and accommodation businesses that want to improve an existing website or build a new one when the current structure is no longer suitable.

This can include updating the visual design, improving the mobile experience, reorganising room information and creating a clearer path towards direct booking.

If the existing website still has a strong foundation, rebuilding everything may not be necessary.

But if the current website has become difficult to maintain or is preventing the business from moving forward, starting again can provide a cleaner foundation for the future.

A hotel website does not need to be the newest website on the market.

It should make your property easy to understand, easy to trust and easy to book.
